Ocean Theme

I suddenly find that my summer tropical theme has turned to the ocean for its inspiration. This piece is a two color pocket sculpture that looks to me like a tide pool creature or some sort of ocean flower. It facinates me how the color changes when layered on top of another. It started out pink, from left overs of a carmine red dye bath, and so as not to waste it, I made this little ocean gem and then I dyed it espresso bean brown. What I got was an unimaginably beautiful orchid and mauve combination! Almost the color of dulce, a seaweed of sorts that is good to sprinkle on your salad for zest. And this little sculpture is certain to attract attention, tucked into a pocket and just waiting for a conversation to begin...
